Ich habe gesehen, wie die Mitarbeiter unglaublich hart gearbeitet haben, selbst in ihrer Zeit außerhalb des Büros, um die Menschen zu unterstützen, die im gesamten kalifornischen Southland und im Großraum Los Angeles Hilfe benötigen.

Ich fand nichts Nützliches bei der Alzheimer-Vereinigung, da meine Mutter mehrere Jahre gegen diese Krankheit kämpfte. Es gab einen völligen Mangel an telefonischem Support. Es gab niemanden, der mir sagte, wie ich mit dieser Krankheit umgehen sollte und welchen Text SPECT. Egal, Ärzte, die sehr abweisend sind und sich weniger um ältere Menschen und Alzheimer kümmern könnten, aber ich habe mehr von der Southern California Association erwartet. Ich habe nur alleine gekämpft und versucht, so viel wie möglich über die Krankheit und was mich erwartet, zu erforschen. Aber manchmal wünschte ich mir wirklich, es gäbe jemanden, mit dem ich sprechen könnte, der mir weiterhelfen und versuchen könnte, mit meiner Mutter und dem, was sie durchmachte, umzugehen, weil ich es nicht verstehen konnte. Ich verstand nicht, dass sie nicht absichtlich versuchte, schwierig zu sein, aber dass ihr Verstand oder das, was davon noch übrig war, sie nicht davon abhalten konnte, sich so zu verhalten, wie sie es tat. Es gab Zeiten, in denen ich über ihre Konfrontationen mit mir weinte, ohne zu wissen, dass dies alles Teil der Krankheit war. Ich dachte nur, es geht um das Gedächtnis. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, dass es nicht nur die Gehirnzellen abtötet, sondern auch die Gehirnzellen, die die Körperfunktionen steuern. Sie starb schließlich einen schrecklichen Tod an der Krankheit. Aber auch hier habe ich erwartet, dass die Alzheimer-Vereinigung meine Hand hält, aber ich habe nicht erwartet, dass auch nur ein Haufen nutzloser Literatur auf mich geworfen wird. Und besonders während einer Pandemie, die meine telefonische Unterstützung gewesen sein sollte, weil ich wusste, dass es keine Treffen gab Ich konnte teilnehmen und außerdem, wie kann ich sogar zu Besprechungen gehen, als ich ihre primäre Bezugsperson war. Als Warnung an diejenigen, die sich um einen Alzheimer-Elternteil kümmern, recherchieren Sie bitte selbst und gehen Sie sofort zu Google und schauen Sie alles selbst nach, da es wirklich keine Unterstützung für Sie gibt, es sei denn, Sie haben Familie und Freunde, die die Krankheit durchgemacht haben

Die Notfallversorgung, die meine 88-jährige Mutter bei der Alzheimer Association California Southland Chapter von Dr. Alexander und seinem Team erhielt, rettete ihr Leben und stellte die verlorenen Sprach- und Motorikfähigkeiten wieder her. Ich bin voller Ehrfurcht vor diesem Team, und obwohl sie jeden Tag auf diesem Niveau auftreten, habe ich nur eine Mutter, und es besteht kein Zweifel, dass sie ihr Leben gerettet haben! Das gesamte Personal der Alzheimer Association California Southland Chapter sind meine Helden, und ich bin zutiefst dankbar für ihre Fürsorge.
