Palmetto Girls State: Junge Frauen zur Führung befähigen
Palmetto Girls State ist ein einwöchiges Führungsprogramm für aufstrebende Highschool-Mädchen in South Carolina. Palmetto Girls State wurde 1947 von der American Legion Auxiliary gegründet und befähigt seit über 75 Jahren junge Frauen, Führungspersönlichkeiten in ihren Gemeinden zu werden.
Das Programm findet jährlich am Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, statt und bietet eine immersive Erfahrung, die die Funktionen der lokalen und staatlichen Regierung simuliert. Die Teilnehmer sind in zwei politische Parteien aufgeteilt und beteiligen sich an Aktivitäten wie Kampagnen, Debatten und der Verabschiedung von Gesetzen.
Während der ganzen Woche haben die Teilnehmer die Möglichkeit, von Gastrednern zu hören, die in ihren jeweiligen Bereichen führend sind. Sie nehmen auch an Workshops zu Themen wie öffentliches Reden, Networking und Zivildienst teil.
Palmetto Girls State ist nicht nur ein Führungsprogramm; es ist eine Schwesternschaft. Die Teilnehmer schließen lebenslange Freundschaften mit anderen jungen Frauen, die ihre Leidenschaft teilen, etwas zu bewegen. Eine dieser Veranstaltungen ist die Feier zum 75-jährigen Jubiläum, die für den 13. August 2022 in Columbia SC geplant ist.
Der American Legion Auxiliary Palmetto Girls State verpflichtet sich, den Teilnehmern diese lebensverändernde Erfahrung kostenlos zur Verfügung zu stellen, dank großzügiger Spenden von Einzelpersonen und Organisationen, die daran glauben, in unsere zukünftigen Führungskräfte zu investieren.
