Das Pflegeverhältnis beträgt hier 8 Patienten zu einer Krankenschwester, was eine extreme Überlastung darstellt. Krankenschwestern sind unnahbar, sie brauchen dringend einen Kulturwandel in dieser Einrichtung.

Ich habe gehört, wie Mitarbeiter schlecht über andere Patienten gesprochen haben, und sie haben Patientenakten herumliegen lassen, was mit Sicherheit die Vertraulichkeit verletzt!

Als Patient in vielen verschiedenen Krankenhäusern sind die Mitarbeiter der Bethesda-Station in Epworth Richmond die schlimmsten, denen ich begegnet bin. Einfache Anfragen scheinen für sie eine solche Unannehmlichkeit zu sein, und Sie müssen in der Regel eine Stunde nach dem ersten Mal, um tatsächlich betreut zu werden, immer wieder dasselbe anfordern. Medizinische Unterlagen werden in der Halle aufbewahrt, wo jeder sie einsehen kann, und sie sind nicht sicher und vertraulich. Die Station ist schmutzig und alt und die Reinigungskräfte sagen, dass sie gereinigt haben, aber noch zwei Tage lang schmutzige Wäsche auf dem Boden lag. In einem einwöchigen Aufenthalt wurden die Laken einmal gewechselt, obwohl sie vorher schmutzig waren. Das Zimmer wurde während meines Aufenthalts nie gesaugt. Dem Essen fehlte immer etwas in der Bestellung. Das Personal beschwerte sich über Patienten auf dem Flur, ohne zu wissen, dass sie von diesen Patienten gehört werden konnten. Insgesamt ein sehr enttäuschender Aufenthalt, aber nach einem Gespräch mit anderen finden die meisten Menschen ihren Aufenthalt so.
