Ich habe hier 2 Jahre als ältere Person gearbeitet. Dies war nur ein paar Jahre zurück. Ich dachte, ich würde an der harten Arbeit sterben, aber selbst ich als Ältester veränderte mich und wuchs und sah immer wieder zu, wie junge Menschen, die in sich selbst versunken und unreif waren, sich in großzügige, reife, freundliche Menschen verwandelten. Ja, es ist nicht schick und das Essen ist gut, unauffällig. Die Stunden sind lang, aber auch die Erinnerungen und das Lachen und die Freundschaften. Die Besitzer sind im Wesentlichen Heilige. Sie haben jahrelang ihre Ersparnisse in diesen Ort gesteckt, um ihn am Leben zu erhalten - einfach um sicherzustellen, dass die Magie weitergeht. Sie verzichten auf sich selbst und leben sehr demütig. Also, nein, sie profitieren nicht von diesem Ort, außer der Tatsache, dass sie mit guten Menschen zusammen sein können.

Die Tatsache, dass der erste Gutachter die Terminologie „Patienten“ verwendet, spricht Bände über die Glaubwürdigkeit dieser bestimmten Person. Eagle Springs kümmert sich nicht um Patienten, sondern bietet Urlaub für einige der einzigartigsten, interessantesten und fantastischsten Menschen, die ich je getroffen habe. Personen, die mir viel beigebracht haben, und Personen, die (so kitschig es klingt) mein Leben verändert haben.

Ich bin 2005 aus keinem anderen Grund hierher gekommen, als einen Sommer in der Sonne zu verbringen, aber das Camp und die Direktoren sind wirklich inspirierend. Seit 2005 habe ich eine Qualifikation als Sozialarbeiterin erworben und mich jetzt auf Autismus spezialisiert. Nichts davon wäre ohne Eagle Springs passiert.

Es ist harte Arbeit. Es ist verdammt harte Arbeit, manchmal ist es körperlich und emotional anstrengend. In der Anzeige heißt es jedoch: "Wenn Sie einen einfachen Sommer wünschen, bewerben Sie sich nicht." Camp America wirbt für Sommercamps wie eine Ferienbroschüre voller Magazine mit glücklichen Gesichtern und Wildwasser-Rafting. In jedem Camp gibt es also einige verärgerte Arbeiter. Leider verpassen diese Leute das, denn wenn Sie an diesem Ort arbeiten und die Ärmel hochkrempeln, werden Sie etwas Besonderes sehen, das ich nicht einmal beschreiben kann.

Ich habe 2 Sommer hier verbracht und die Erinnerungen sind von unschätzbarem Wert. Die Umgebung ist absolut atemberaubend und ich habe einige tolle Freunde gefunden, sowohl Arbeiter als auch Urlauber. Der Kommentar über das Abcremen der Gewinne ist Unsinn, ALLE Gewinne und MEHR gehen eindeutig zurück ins Lager und ich hoffe, die Direktoren haben nichts dagegen, wenn ich sage, dass sie einen ziemlich sparsamen und nicht materialistischen Lebensstil zu führen scheinen.

Wenn Sie daran denken, ein Familienmitglied oder einen Freund hierher in den Urlaub zu schicken, dann tun Sie es. Es gibt keinen besseren Ort. Wenn Sie daran denken, hier zu arbeiten (und Sie sind kein fauler, verwöhnter Gör, "Daddy buy-me-a-pony", fehlgeleiteter kleiner Wichser wie der ursprüngliche Rezensent), dann tun Sie es auch!
