Jennewein Biotechnologie is a science-based company in the field of industrial biotechnology. They specialize in the development of new processes for the identification, characterization and production of scarce, functional monosaccharides and oligosaccharides. Their main focus is the production of sugar molecules with attractive health benefits. Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) represent one of their major fields of activity. These complex natural sugar molecules are found uniquely in human milk. Human milk oligosaccharides cannot be digested by humans and thus, do not provide calories. However, HMOs have various functional health benefits beyond the intake of calories. They have developed innovative processes for the production of HMOs and have built up production capacity over the last few years allowing us to supply these oligosaccharides as food ingredients.
