Institute of Metagenomics and Microbial Technologies (IMMT) is driven by the belief that the multidisciplinary research of composition and complex interaction within microbial communities will help to prevent and cure diseases caused by antimicrobial resistant (AMR) bacteria. Patients infected by such bacteria are generally at increased risk of worse clinical outcomes and death and consume more healthcare resources than those infected by nonresistant ones (source: WHO). Since AMR infections are globally increasing this has become a growing problem of worldwide proportions.
