My name is Domenic Davino Jr, and I have witnessed...
My name is Domenic Davino Jr, and I have witnessed discriminatory practices on my first day of work as a janitor. Specifically, the provision of cleaning supplies differs between men's and women's bathrooms. Bleach spray is available for men to clean toilet seats after use, but not for women. I brought this issue to the attention of my trainer, Dave, and supervisor, Brain, who responded with the phrase "if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it." I escalated the matter to the job agency office manager, Laurie Levesque, and others, but received the same response or agreement with the aforementioned phrase.
I believe this policy violates equal employment opportunity laws and creates a hostile work environment. I reported this issue and was subsequently treated differently by the job agency and True Love McLean staff. This has had a detrimental impact on my mental stability. I am concerned that workplace policies should apply equally to all employees, regardless of gender. If there is a legitimate reason for the differing policies, it should be clearly communicated and applied fairly.
I would like to file a complaint against True Love McLean and the hire source for allowing this situation to persist for two weeks, despite my repeated complaints. The job agency, located at 24 Wooster Ave, 203-757-4000, should also be held accountable for their role in perpetuating this discriminatory policy. I was forced to quit due to this situation and am seeking to report this incident separately and seek resolution.
Additionally, on my last day, I experienced another incident where my trainer, Dave, entered the stall next to me while I was using the bathroom and began cleaning the stainless steel wall between us with cleaner. This behavior is deranged and sick, and I believe it is against the law. I have also heard Brain make disparaging jokes about gay individuals.
I am requesting the following:
1. Reinstatement of my job with no retaliation.
2. Termination of Dave and Brain.
3. A written apology from the owner of True Love & McLean and Hire Source.
4. Compensation of $943.00 from both Hire Source and True Love McLean for each week that has passed since the date of complaint.
5. Implementation of a policy allowing women to have access to cleaning supplies in their bathrooms.
6. Mandatory training for Hire Source employees on issues like this to prevent future incidents.
This is my final communication until the hearings. Please share this with True Love & McLean, as I will not be communicating with them directly. Please send this to your attorney and True Love & McLean.
